Individual Therapy for Adults

One of the hardest steps in therapy is reaching out and beginning the process. That deserves some recognition! Please orient yourself with what you can expect out of a traditional therapeutic process down below.

First Step: Intake

The official first or two sessions where I learn more about you, what brings you to therapy, and the experiences that have shaped you. Additionally, we discuss your goals for therapy.

Individual sessions

This is where we focus on building the relationship as well as doing the therapeutic work. I highlight this because without a trusting relationship, we cannot make any progress. Within the sessions, I will be utilizing a variety of evidence-based approaches (such as Attachment Theory, ACT, Psychodynamic Theory, Internal Family Systems, and EMDR). The frequency depends on a variety of factors such as time investment, financial abilities, and overall energy, because working on yourself is hard. I personally recommend meeting once a week or once every two weeks in order to see substantial change.

Discharge

It is important to note that you are allowed to discontinue/discharge therapy at any point, should you feel the need. Typically, clients "graduate" once both the client and therapist agree the therapeutic goals have been achieved.

"Authenticity is the practice of letting go of who we think we are supposed to be, and embracing who we are."

- Brené Brown, 2010.
